Tagline checker

Your tagline does not live on a pitch deck. It lives in a row, next to forty others, and on a phone it gets cut at 52 characters. See exactly where.

Measured on this board: a phone cuts a tagline at 52 characters.

    Frequently asked questions

Why is it not a generator?

Because every other one is. Canva, Shopify, Grammarly and Jasper all ship the same tool — type a word, receive a list of slogans — and the results are the ones founders throw away. Nobody needs a seventh. What no generator can tell you is whether the line you already wrote survives the row it has to live in, which is the only thing a directory is qualified to answer.

Where does 52 characters come from?

Measured on this site on 10 August 2026, not estimated. The tagline in a listing row is clamped to two lines. On a 375px phone the row chrome — icon, gaps, padding — takes 152px, leaving 191px of text, which is 26 characters a line at 16px. Two lines is 52. On a laptop the same row gives you 172, which nothing anybody writes will reach.

Does a high score mean a good tagline?

It means yours clears the mechanical hurdles: it fits, it opens on something real, and it says what the product does rather than how it was built. It cannot tell you whether the claim is true or whether anybody wants it. No tool can.

    Why flag “AI-powered”?

It describes the implementation, not the outcome, and in 2026 it no longer distinguishes anything — it is the new “web-based”. The characters it costs are characters not spent saying what the product actually does for somebody.

My tagline is one character over. Does that matter?

On a phone, the last word disappears. Whether that matters depends entirely on which word it is. The preview shows you, which is why the preview is the point of this tool rather than the score.

Do you store what I type?

No. The text is sent to score it and nothing is written down — there is no table behind this tool.
