Terms

Last updated August 12, 2026

This describes what you're agreeing to by using AlphaShot — reading the board, creating an account, submitting a product, or buying advertising. It's written to be read, not skimmed past: plain language first, the standard legal protections after.

This page is not a substitute for advice from a lawyer, and nothing on it is legal advice to you. If a clause here ever conflicts with a law that applies to you, the law wins and the rest of these terms stay in force.

Using AlphaShot

You can read the board, use every free tool and download a badge without an account. Voting, commenting, submitting a product and buying advertising all need one.

You must be at least 16 to create an account — the same age this site's privacy page uses. If you're younger than that, please don't sign up.

Your account

  • One account per person. Sign in with a password, Google, or a magic link — the sign-in methods that actually exist on this site.
  • You're responsible for what happens under your account, including anything posted from it. If you think somebody else has access to it, change your password and tell us.
  • Impersonating another person or business, or claiming to represent a company you don't, isn't allowed.
  • We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. A suspended account's history stays visible — a suspension is meant to stop future harm, not erase what already happened.

Submitting a product

Listing a product is free and stays free — that's a product decision stated elsewhere on the site, not just a terms clause. Submit something you made, work on, or are otherwise entitled to represent. When you submit a product, its images, its description and everything else in the listing:

  • Must be accurate. Don't claim features, ratings or numbers the product doesn't actually have.
  • Must be something you have the right to post — the name, the screenshots, the logo. Don't list somebody else's product as your own.
  • Can be corrected, unpublished or removed by us if it's inaccurate, breaks these terms, or isn't a good fit for this audience — the same standard this site already applies to advertising.

A listing without an owner can be claimed — see the privacy page for exactly what that asks for and how it's decided.

Comments, votes and other content you post

Anything you write here — a comment, a report, a correction, a reply — has to be yours to post and has to follow the same rule as a listing: accurate, and not impersonating anyone. We can remove content, and can revoke votes we can demonstrate weren't genuine, exactly as described on the privacy page.

By posting anything on AlphaShot, you keep ownership of it, and you give us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reformat and distribute it as part of running the site — showing your comment on the page it was written on, for instance. That licence ends for new use once you delete the content or your account, though a copy may persist briefly in backups.

Other people's products

AlphaShot is a directory. We don't make, sell, operate or vouch for the products listed here — a listing is not an endorsement, and following a link to one is between you and that product. Read a product's own terms and privacy policy before you use it; ours only covers AlphaShot itself.

Advertising

Buying a placement means agreeing to what's shown at checkout at the moment you pay — the package, the campaign length, and the total. A few things are already fixed, described in full on the advertising page and enforced in the code that runs it, not just written here:

  • Payment is a single charge through Stripe. We never see or store your card details.
  • A flight starts the day the creative is checked and goes live, not the day you pay — reviewing artwork takes a little time, and that time is never billed to you as part of the flight.
  • We check every creative before it runs, and can decline one that doesn't fit this audience — the same standard a submitted product is held to.
  • Paid placement never affects ranking. What you're buying is a labelled position, never a vote or a rank.
  • Cancelling stops delivery immediately. It does not undo delivery that's already happened.
  • There are no refunds once a purchase has been successfully completed.

Copyright and other complaints about content

If something on AlphaShot infringes your copyright, or you believe it should not be here for some other legal reason, tell us through the contact form and include enough for us to find the exact page and understand the claim.

An account that repeatedly posts infringing content can be suspended or closed, whether or not a formal notice was filed first.

What you agree not to do

  • Attempt to manipulate votes, rankings or awards — including with multiple accounts, paid votes, or automation.
  • Scrape, bulk-download or republish the board's data without asking first.
  • Attempt to access another account, or any part of the site not meant for you.
  • Send spam, malware, or content that's illegal where you or we operate.
  • Interfere with the site's normal operation — overloading it, bypassing rate limits, or working around a restriction we've put in place.

The service itself

AlphaShot is provided as is and as available. We don't promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or permanently available — we try, and we'll say so on the site itself when something is down, but we make no formal uptime commitment. Free tools and their results are provided for guidance; they aren't professional, legal or financial advice, and you're responsible for decisions you make based on them.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, AlphaShot is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the site, or for the products, content or conduct of anyone else who uses it — including anything listed here or linked to. Where liability can't be excluded, it's limited to the amount you paid us, if any, in the twelve months before the claim.

Nothing here limits liability that the law does not allow us to limit — for example, liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Indemnity

If a claim against us arises from content you posted, or from your breach of these terms, you agree to cover the reasonable costs that causes us, to the extent the law allows.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, the date at the top moves and we'll say so — the same standard the privacy page holds itself to. Continuing to use AlphaShot after a change means you accept the new terms; if you don't, the account settings page lets you close your account and take your content down.

Governing law

AlphaShot operates out of the United States, and these terms are governed by its law.

Contact

Questions about these terms go to the contact form — every message gets a reference number and a reply, the same as any other message sent there.
